Well decided to try my hand on 1/8 e-buggies...tired of nitro and lugging around a bump box, tool case, and 2 gallons of fuel everywhere I go lol.

I had a MMM V3 and a 2200kv Neu motor laying around and I thought this would be the ideal setup on 4s as that's what I've been reading around on an Rc8Be. Picked up a 1 year old 7955TG for $20!!! Ordered up a couple hardcase GensAce 5000mah 40C 4s hard packs...first cell couldn't hold charge at all until I boosted it in NiMH mode for about 7-10 min then balanced charged. Everything is fine now. Can someone explain this??

Running Gear:
-Futaba 4PL
-MMM V3/2200kv on 4s and maybe 5s
-Hitec 7955TG servo w/aluminum horn
-Steel Spur haven't installed yet
-M3 Bowties on White Dishes from Kit
-Kyosho Aston Martin On-Road Belted Tires w/Wheels for street runs
-Calibers and Crime Fighters Still Deciding...or looking into AKA
-Basher tires/wheels off a Vorza
-DE Racing Mud Guards
-T Bone Racing Competition Front Bumper/Skid in front of stock Skid
-Factory Team goodies

Kit was a blast to build as always. Only complaint I have with the kit is the fact that the screws in the manual are not to scale. Thanks to my caliper I was able identify the correct screws otherwise that would have been a nightmare!

Rookie mistake around 3 in the morning I accidentally installed the ring on the wrong side in the front diff lol! I was wondering why I couldn't roll it forward even with the motor unplugged. Man did I feel dumb...took me 2 days to figure that out. (I can hear Garrett now going...."well that's your problem right there!")

Had some calibration issues with the 4PL for some reason I know Futaba radios must have the steering set to the Reverse channel. Apparently I had to program the TX with the throttle channel in reverse as well. Well when programming the throttle and brake while messing around with CastleLink for a good 30 min I finally go it come to a complete stop then reverse instead of reversing right when I apply the brakes.

I love the ABS feature on all the Futaba 2.4ghz radios!

Current setup is FT suspension mounting points with a little twist here and there along with 5 5 5 in all diffs for now. This is the first e-buggy I built which really sames seems like building a nitro buggy which I built for a local newbie who wanted to start with a buggy....not sure why buggies are more maintenance and less forgiving let alone parts are harder to find in any LHS. Surprisingly this kit only took 3 evenings tops 2-3 hours a night.

Nothing special on the paint just a red beater body and I'm running some new Vorza tires/wheels a track buddy gave me for street runs. Of course gotta rock my favorite colors red and black. Might have my buddy do airbrush bulldog body for me once this one gets trashed.

Now what can I do to add some scale realism to this thing without having to worry about it flying off or getting in the way...besides a driver...I'm thinking protected head lights/rally lights/tail lights/rubber mirrors. Any other suggestions Lance?

Well had to pick up some CA and some Baja stuff during lunch. Apparently Bucky bought out M&M (or so the word on the street is). Called my buddy over at M&M and he said Amir was retiring lol. About damn time!

Now I wonder what they are going to do with M&M's track and facility....too bad it's the closest one I have near my place in the southwest.

Also for those of yall that don't know RC Hobby Shop is moving to a much bigger facility off Hwy 90 about 5 min from their current location. Since the track will be around a warehouse area there won't be sound complaints.

Talking to the manager and some of my buddies there it will have:

1/16 Mini Traxxas cars/rigs on-road
1/10 TC on-road
1/10, 1/8, and 1/5 off-road
BEST OF ALL: Scaler course and also a comp layout. Water hazards and mud will be there as well.

Since I live closest to there I'll check out their tracks and courses. Snap some shots for yall....we might have a new comp/GTG spot and hopefully we can pick up more southwest guys in addition to myself!

New Turtle Tank

Well petco had a sale, 1 buck a gallon so the wife wanted a 55 gallon for the turtles.

I had planned on making a new background for the current 30 gallon tank after I finished my Yota project, but since we got the 55 gallon now it moved up on the Honey Do list.

Now in all honesty I don't have any idea what I'm doing, some of it is based on what others have done and some of it is just made up along the way.

Supply list so far:

Drylok latex paint
Hot Glue and Gun
Styrofoam
PVC pipe

The tank and a tupperware the same size as the filter tupperware. I will try to hide the filter under some made rocks along with the heater.

It's a homemade filter, basically a smaller version of what I use in my Koi ponds.

Here's the sheet before the mess begins.

I first cut out a piece the same size as the back of the aquarium. I than cut it into 3 pieces so it would go in the tank. I than made a duplicate set and drew out a pattern to cut.

Originally I was following someone elses directions but ended making all the rocks connect like a jigsaw. I changed my mind and decided I wanted it to be a large rock face, not a stack of rocks. But I had already cut the jigsaw. It actually helped some, with the jigsaw I could work in smaller areas and pull out pieces, sculpt them and than put them back. I'm not sure I would do it again this way but it did work.

The first test fit.

All 3 tiles together.

Another test fit.

and finally a water test. I wanted to test the fit and test the shelves under the water before I start finalizing the design. The final shelf on the right will be the basking area and will be removable so that I can access the filter box. I'm using pvc pipe to hold the tiles in place I want to avoid using silicone to glue it in.

Again I have no idea what I'm doing, just making it up as I go.

Not bad 1080P waterproof...rugged design not to mention it's only $70 shipped. Would make a great pocket sized HD camcorder/camera for our scale/comp/GTG events.
Retails at $156...I've not had good experiences with Kodak digital cameras but that was about 3 years ago. The battery life was terrible. Ended up going with AA's which only lasts for about 20 shots max on 10MP. Auto focus is an issue as well. Forget about recording on that POS camera...it will eat those batteries alive!
